Sponsor is person residing outside the Netherlands
In this case you should send in two documents:
1. an original statement (a letter) from the sponsor (undefinedexample sponsor letter)
2. an original bank statement (letter of the bank manager) of the sponsor's bank (undefinedexample bank letter)
3. OR a copy of a bank draft (print of the transactions)of the sponsor's bank account

Sponsor statement (letter) requirements

  • not older than 3 months
  • full name, date of birth, nationality and address of the sponsor
  • undersigned by the sponsoring person
  • starting date and ending date of the financial support
  • the monthly amount transferred to the student
  • full name and date of birth of the student
  • make sure a copy of the sponsor's passport is enclosed!

Bank statement requirements

  • not older than 3 months
  • must be dated
  • undersigned by an authorized official from the Bank
  • issued on behalf of the sponsoring person
  • bares an account number
  • shows a positive balance of at least €10,916.28 for a fulltime bachelor's course and €11,916.28 for a fulltime master's course (or equivalent in foreign currency)
  • makes clear that the amount can be used for immediate withdrawal (no saving account, bonds, stocks or likewise)
  • shows contact information from the issuing Bank (name, address e.g.)

Bank draft requirements

  • not older than 3 months
  • must be dated
  • bank account number
  • name of sponsor
  • positive balance of at least €10,916.28 for a fulltime bachelor's course and €11,916.28 for a fulltime master's course (or equivalent in foreign currency)
  • immediate withdrawal (no saving accounts e.g.)
  • contact information of the bank

Note: in case of an internet account both bank statement and bank draft must refer to the fact that the account is an internet account!

Alternative
In case the sponsor does not meet the requirement of having a sufficient positive balance on his bank account, a sufficient monthly income can be used instead, proven by the next two documents:

1. a copy of a labour contract stating:
- name and address of the sponsor’s employer
- name and date of birth of the sponsor
- status of employment (function, type of contract: regular/steady, temporarily (if so: period of contract), working hours per week/month)

and

2. a copy of received wages (salary) of the past three months
